Oscar was a once-in-a-lifetime dog for me. I miss him every day.

Oscar was brought to the US from Belgium as an 8-week-old with the help of my friends Rob & Derede. I took a huge risk importing a puppy but the "happy, happy" boy proved to be a wonderful companion and fun dog to work in anything we tried. And we tried a lot! Mostly Agility, Schutzhund and K9 Nose Work. Since Agility was our first sport, we initially focused our efforts in that direction and Oscar was the youngest Tervuren to earn a MACH (AKC Masters Agility Champion) at the tender age of 3 years, 1 month. He earned his 3rd AKC Agility Championship and SchH2 in 2008. We played at the Cynosport World Games in Scottsdale, AZ in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and were qualified to play in 2009 as well. We'd garnered a 2nd place in Agility at the Incredible Dog Challenge Regionals and were scheduled to travel to St.Louis for the finals in 2009 when he became ill.

We had fun with extracurricular activites as well, including some television news spots, Animal Planet filming of the AKC Invitational and we've even been in a movie! My furry "Academy Award" is a celebrity! :-)

Oscar was a pleasure to work and trial as he always did whatever I asked. He gave his everything and still looked to me for more. He was an extremely high drive, intense worker. Due to his unusual and verbose expressions, he earned the nickname "The Tasmanian Devil!" He was very affectionate, smiled at his friends, was playful with a sense of humor and just a big goofball sometimes!

Along with Emmy, we began a series of "Fun Nose Work" classes in 2007 and he successfully completed his NW1 title in 2009! Although Oscar had difficulty containing himself for tracking, he proved very good at Nose Work and was one of the first 4 dogs ever to earn the NW2 title. We were preparing for his SchH3 and NW3 when he lost his battle with Stomach Cancer.

My "happy, happy" boy was no more...
